Make smarter decisions with cost intelligence.

Token waste from runaway agents, redundant context, and unmonitored sessions adds up before any invoice arrives. AgentGuard360 provides you with per-model cost estimates and activity tracking to help you understand where spend is coming from and how to reduce API bills. AgentGuard360 is coming soon. Meanwhile, up your security game and your knowledge about the agentic future with the AI Security Action Pack and weekly briefing.

What Is the Coding Agent Subscription Capacity Calculator?

The subscription capacity calculator answers the question builders actually ask: how many tasks does my Cursor, Codex or Claude Code plan cover per month, and what happens when I go over? Unlike a static pricing table, a runway planner takes your specific plan, model, and workflow mix and shows you exactly when you hit your credit limit and what each additional task will cost in API fees.

How Cursor AI Credits Work: What Your Plan Covers

Cursor uses a hybrid model combining a subscription base with usage-based API charges. The Pro plan ($20/mo) includes a pool of fast requests against Claude and GPT models, after which overage charges apply. The Business plan ($40/mo) adds capacity and team features. Cursor's credit system is tied to model calls, not raw tokens โ€” but underlying cost still scales with context window size and the models selected in agent mode.

Claude Code Cost: How Many Tasks Does Max Plan Cover?

Claude Code pricing ties subscription tiers directly to dollar-denominated credits. Claude Max 5x ($100/mo) is $100 in Claude API credit. Claude Max 20x ($200/mo) is $200. Task capacity is determined by how many tokens each task consumes against the model's per-million-token rate. At Claude Sonnet 4.6 rates ($3 input / $15 output per 1M tokens), a bug fix session running 300K input tokens and 100K output tokens at 75% cache hit rate costs approximately $0.88.

Codex Workspace Pricing: Credits, Overages, and API Fallback

OpenAI Codex pricing follows a similar credit-to-subscription model. Plus and Pro tiers include credit pools applied against GPT model usage in the Codex workspace. When credits run out, continued agent task execution bills against your API account. The calculator defaults to GPT-5.5 for Codex, but you can search for any model on OpenRouter to match your actual usage. Use this tool to calculate exactly how much Codex cost per month based on your team's workflow and model selection.

How Cache Hit Rate Affects Your Coding Agent Bill

When you resume an existing session or reuse a stable system prompt, the model can serve much of the input from cache, which is billed at roughly 10% of the full input rate on Anthropic and OpenAI. The default 75% cache rate assumes a mix of session resumptions and fresh starts. If you frequently open new conversations, load full repo context, or use widely varying prompts, set the slider lower. If you work in long-running sessions with stable context, set it higher. This variable alone can change estimated monthly cost by 30โ€“40%.

Why Coding Agent Costs Are Hard to Predict

Three factors make coding agent costs volatile: (1) Context accumulation โ€” multi-file agent sessions load entire codebases into context, inflating input tokens far beyond single-conversation estimates. (2) Model switching โ€” platforms like Cursor use different models for different operations, each with different rates. (3) Iteration depth โ€” a feature build requiring five back-and-forth rounds generates five times the output tokens of a single-pass code review. Token estimates here are averages from observed agent sessions, not theoretical minimums.

For AI Agents

Agents with browser automation (Puppeteer, Playwright, browser-use) can interact with this tool directly. All calculation runs client-side. Only public model pricing data is fetched from OpenRouter.
